APAIL Squad takes SMITH
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
"I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let's face it, friends make life a lot more fun." - Charles Swindoll
And that is exactly why I have decided to feature my 'squad' in this week's post. We recently had the privilege to brunch at Smith Restaurant in Downtown Toronto (I will link all the socials at the bottom).
They are located on Church Street in Downtown Toronto, this is a location you can dress-up or dress-down in. They have three floors intertwined with different vibes. SMITH is an eclectic restaurant, a mix & mash-up of simple ingredients, recipes with soul, and comfort served by the glass, plate or bowl. Their menus change frequently and do range seasonally, so be sure to check them out while you can!
When we brunch, we brunch. I ordered the Ballina Benedict: smoked salmon on an english muffin, with two perfectly poached eggs, leek fondue, and home fries. Personally, I love smoked salmon with eggs benedict, so this combo alone is enough tto grab my attention. The leek fondue was different, but I found it to be tasty (others had different opinions). The eggs were poached beautifully, as you can see in the after photo of me breaking it below:
Overall, for the main portion, I give it a 4/5! My only dislike was the potatoes as they were too big a portion, and not seasoned enough. I ordered a drip coffee, which is a perfect pairing. The cup was fairly small, so refills were needed.
Side Note: I also took a bite out of my friend's plate of the beans, and found it to be delicious as well! Combination of beans, avocados, tomatoes and some onions were the perfect mix. However, our only concern was that the portion was too big, and placed directly on top of two tortilla wraps that soaked up fairly easily.
The Interior & Exterior
.. Deserves a spotlight! Just take a look at these shots below of their patio (easily accessed through the side) and you'll fall in love just like I did. This patio is open all year around! Why? BECAUSE IT'S A HEATED PATIO.
Honestly I'm in love... just look:
This place is simply gorgeous, and their food seems to be decent. I would definitely visit this place again! And I would recommend making a reservation if you want guaranteed seating!
And that's in beauties, here are their socials where you can look into them.. Thanks! <3
