Eyelash extensions have become a very real trend in fashion nowadays, and I can't blame us women! We want to look fabulous with little effort for maintenance. Lucky for all my readers today, that I am finally providing you with what has been highly requested from me! Here is everything you need to know about eyelash extensions, if they're safe, and how to take care of them!

So let's hop right into it...

DON'T FRET, THEY'RE SAFE!

The eyelash extensions are made of synthetic, soft and lush fibers with high gloss finishes, or, alternatively, pure mink lashes. As long as your lash technician is certified, uses pharmaceutical

grade adhesive that which should never come in contact with your skin. The synthetic or Mink eyelashes should be adhered about 1mm away from the skin of your eyelids.

EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT EYES.

With that being said, there are over 11 different lengths to choose from, over 5 different thicknesses, multiple curls, and different types of lashes. In other words, this means that there are over 200 combinations of lashes to choose from! So, when people ask for that "Kim Kardashian" look, you have to remember that it may not work for your own eyes. A style meant for wide set eyes, may not work for monolid eyes. Make sure to consult with your lash artist to customize your own set that works for you.

EYELASH EXTENSIONS WILL LAST A FEW WEEKS.

Like the cells on your skin, the hairs on your body has it's own natural growth cycle. The eyelash hair has a cycle between 60 to 100 days. And as the eyelash extensions are placed individually on each eyelash, touch-ups, or refills, are recommended after 2-4 weeks in order to replace the eyelashes that have fallen off due to the natural lash cycle.

EYELASH EXTENSIONS ARE FAIRLY LOW MAINTENANCE.

Avoid excessive rubbing of the eyes, and use water-based cleansers. That means: NO OIL-BASED PRODUCTS. That will only speed up the process of your lashes falling out! Also, try to use products formulate specifically for eyelash extension wearers like LashCare.

THERE IS NO NEED TO WEAR MASCARA.

Though there are people that choose to apply mascara on top of your eyelash extensions, there really is no need for any mascara, or eyeliner! If you prefer to wear mascara even after the hundreds of options in style, thickness and volume of eyelash extensions, then DO NOT WEAR WATERPROOF MASCARA. Wearing waterproof is HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED. Use a small Q-tip to carefully clean eyeliner around the eyes if needed.

IF YOU WANT THEM GONE, GO TO THE PROFESSIONAL!

In the event you want your eyelash extensions removed, do not pull or remove them yourselves. Have the professional remove them for you. Please do not attempt to remove them yourself as the glue is very strong! This is the EYE we are talking about, so health and safety is the number one concern.

EVERYTHING ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HOW TO TAKE CARE OF EYELASH EXTENSIONS, AND DAILY MAINTENANCE.

Effectively immediately after your lash nap session:

In the first 2-4 hours: DO NOT wash or rub eyes, and absolutely NO makeup

For the first 24 hours or 2 days: DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT get them wet. This means no facials or steams, wash the face gently AVOIDING the eyes and eyelash extensions, no swimming in salt water. If you tan, please use the goggles.

DAILY MAINTENANCE TIPS

- DO NOT wear waterproof over-the-counter mascaras. you will not be able to remove the mascara off your extensions.

- DO NOT use manual eyelash curlers. These break both your extensions and natural lashes! Instead, we recommend using Heated Eyelash Extension Curler (ask your Lash Artist about this product).

- DO NOT receive acidic facials including chemical peels, alpha and/or beta hydroxy peels that will dissolve the bonding agent of eyelash extensions.

- DO NOT rub lashes or eyes while washing face

- DO NOT use oil-based eye products on the eyes. This will dissolve the bonding agent.

- DO NOT wash your face, work out, or go in a sauna. The extensions may not get wet for at least 24 hours.

BIGGEST TIP: DO NOT PULL OFF YOUR LASHES!
